Weather on the map,
hour by hour.

Eight weather layers drawn over the terrain, with one time scrubber that moves them all. See where the wind, the snow and the clouds will be when you get there.

How it works

01
The Layers sheet scrolled to its Conditions section, over satellite imagery

Pick a layer

Precipitation, clouds, temperature, wind, freezing level, humidity, pressure and visibility. Wind draws as animated particles so you can read direction at a glance.

02
The Wind layer with the time scrubber at the bottom of the map

Scrub forward in time

One scrubber at the bottom of the map moves every weather layer together. Drag to the hour you plan to be on the ridge.

03
Point forecast sheet with hourly charts

Confirm with the point forecast

Tap the spot you care about for hourly numbers and charts. The layer gives the picture, the forecast gives the detail.

Sources / What it does not do

Sources
  • Weather layers: NOAA GFS worldwide, refined with ECCC HRDPS over Canada and NOAA HRRR over the United States.
  • Point forecast: Open-Meteo, served through Aventerra's own server.
Data sources
What it does not do
  • Weather layers save for offline use as the forecast frames available when you download. They age from there, and the app marks them Outdated once they are old.
  • Precipitation, clouds, temperature, wind and humidity are sharper over Canada (HRDPS) and the United States (HRRR, first 48 hours). Elsewhere the layers come from GFS alone.
  • Freezing level, pressure and visibility come from GFS only.

Frequently asked

Which weather layers are there?

Eight: precipitation, clouds, temperature, wind, freezing level, humidity, pressure and visibility. All of them follow the same time scrubber.

Can I download the weather layers for offline use?

Yes. Add them to an offline area and the forecast frames published at download time come with it. A forecast ages quickly, so the app marks the download Outdated after a while. Refresh the area before you leave if you can.

What is weather along a route?

A Pro extra. Each point of your planned route gets the forecast for the hour you are expected to pass it, based on your departure time.
