How it works

01
The Layers sheet with map types and overlay cards

Open the Layers sheet

Map type on top, then terrain and land, then conditions. Tap a card to turn its layer on.

02
The Forest Loss detail sheet: its legend by year, opacity and the loss year filter

Read the legend

Each layer opens a detail sheet with its legend and source. Some add a filter, such as years for Forest Loss or your carrier for Cell Signal.

03
Framing an area of the map to download for offline use

Take it offline

Pick layers when you download an area and they come down with the map.

Sources / What it does not do

Sources
  • Each row below names its data source. The app lists the full attributions under Layers, Attributions.
  • Everything is served from Aventerra's own tiles except Mapbox satellite imagery.
Data sources
What it does not do
  • Coverage differs by layer. Each row shows where it works.
  • Recent Satellite covers southern Quebec for now.
  • Land Ownership is confirmed in Quebec for now.
  • Trail networks have no switch: they follow the activity you pick. Snowmobile, quad and dirt bike trails cover Quebec only.
  • Bike networks show what mappers have designated, so they are strong where cyclists map and thin elsewhere.
  • Slope Angle and Aspect draw from zoom 10 to 13.
  • ProRecent Satellite
  • ProForest Loss

Frequently asked

Which layers are free?

All of them except Recent Satellite and Forest Loss, which are Pro. Slope Angle and Snow Depth are safety layers and stay free on every plan.

Which layers work offline?

Every layer can be added to an offline area. Places come with the basemap download.

Why are the trail layers not in the sheet?

The snowmobile, quad, dirt bike and bike networks follow your activity. Pick snowmobile and the snowmobile trails appear; switch to road bike and the cycling network takes their place.

Next
Download the area. Keep the whole picture.

Pick an area and choose its layers. Every map layer can come with it, along with a routing pack for that area. Routing runs entirely on your phone.
