No. Aventerra works fully as a standalone app. For the offline mesh safety features (group tracking without cell signal), each member of the group needs a Meshtastic-compatible LoRa radio. See the Hardware page for the devices we recommend.
Mesh chat is end-to-end encrypted: X25519 key exchange, HKDF, AES-GCM-256 and rotating group keys. Internet chat is not encrypted, and mesh positions are protected only by the Meshtastic channel key.
The people you choose: your activity group, your friends, or anyone nearby as a public pin. They are app users, not emergency services. Responders can reply that they are on the way, and you close the SOS when you are safe.
