How it works

01
Offline area selection with the download size estimate

Frame the area

Pan and zoom to the terrain you are heading into. The app lists the layers included and the estimated size before you confirm.

02
Route builder drawing a route over the downloaded area

Get the routing pack

Each downloaded area ships with its routing pack and an offline places pack. Build and follow a route with no connection at all.

03
The app with no signal inside a downloaded area, still finding a nearby peak in search

Travel

Open the app anywhere in the area. The layers you downloaded render as if you were online, and search finds the places in your pack.

Sources / What it does not do

Sources
  • Basemap and places: Aventerra's own vector tiles, with offline POI packs and a global places bundle.
  • Snow depth: NOAA SNODAS in the United States, ECCC HRDPS in Canada, GFS elsewhere.
  • Slope angle: Copernicus, NRCan and USGS elevation data. Cell signal: estimated outdoor coverage for the United States and Canada.

What it does not do
  • Satellite imagery saves at a lower detail ceiling than it shows online.
  • Weather, fire and smoke, and snow depth save as the data available when you download. They age after that, and the app marks them Outdated so you know to refresh.
  • The detailed routing graph covers North America and the Nordic countries. Elsewhere routing falls back to a coarser graph.
  • One offline region on Free. Pro removes the limit.
  • ProUnlimited offline regions
  • ProForest loss layer

Frequently asked

Does it work offline?

Yes. You can download maps, trails, and conditions for offline use: every account includes one offline region, and Pro removes the limit. Routing runs entirely on your phone, and LoRa mesh features work offline by design: they use radio, not internet.

Which layers can I download?

Every map layer: the basemap with places, satellite, topo contours, slope angle, aspect, cell signal, land ownership, snow depth, the weather layers, fire and smoke, and Recent Satellite and forest loss on Pro. Satellite saves at a lower detail ceiling than it shows online.

Does search work offline?

Places in your downloaded packs and the global places bundle work offline, along with peaks, lakes and huts inside a downloaded area. Outside your downloaded areas, backcountry features need a connection.
